Walden Convicted in Fatal Hit and Run

The man responsible for driving into two people, killing one of them, faces 15-years-to-life in prison.

It took jurors just four hours to convict Paul Walden on charges of murder, vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run and DUI.  Walden was accused of slamming into 21-year-old Harrison Long-Randall, his girlfriend Gemily West, and their four dogs. This all happened on Garfield Avenue at Engle Road in Carmichael back in July of 2012. Harrison's leg was severed in the accident and died 10 days later in the hospital. His four dogs were also killed.

His girlfriend, who was injured in the crash, spoke with News 10, saying she's pleased with the verdict.

"I'm happy that justice is finally served, and I'll be the same tomorrow.  Happy that this is all over and he's put away in jail," she stated plainly.

Prosecutors say Walden was under the influence of heroin at the time of the accident.

His sentencing is scheduled for next month.
