UPDATE: Boston Police Detonate Two Backpacks Left At Marathon Finish Line

UPDATE: 

Police confirm they have a man in custody in connection with two unattended backpacks left at the finish line of the Boston Marathon Tuesday afternoon. 

A bomb squad was called in to examine the backpacks and both were intentionally detonated. Witnesses say a barefoot man wearing a long black veil was seen carrying a backpack in the area and was yelling "Boston Strong."

The area was evacuated, and both backpacks were detonated by the bomb squad as a precaution.  

Authorities say the backpack left by the man contained a rice cooker and was likely a hoax.  

It's been reported that the other bag was left behind by a media outlet covering the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.  

Boston is marking the one-year anniversary of the marathon bombings today. That attack killed three people and injured more than 250.

Police are clearing out the area around the Boston Marathon finish line after reports of barefoot man running down the street with a large backpack.

Two backpacks were left unattended and the man was led away by police. 

According to witnesses, the man was wearing a long black veil and acting strange. 

Boston is marking the one-year anniversary of the marathon bombings today.
