STOP Makes Final Push for Signatures

The group looking to put Sacramento's arena subsidy before voters says the issue will make the June ballot.

Members with Sacramento Taxpayers Opposed to Pork, or STOP, are in a final push in their signature drive to qualify for a ballot initiative next year -- and they say they'll make it.

The group needs about 22,000 valid signatures by Dec. 10, and has been shooting for about 8,000 more than that, just in case.

They group believes the city's $258 million contribution to a downtown arena has been undervalued but arena supporters say signature gatherers have been using deceptive tacticts.

Members of STOP have also filed a lawsuit that was in court on Friday. A judge did not issue a ruling after originally siding with the city.
