Some Rancho Cordova residents will be receiving a refund check for a fire fee they never should have paid.
The refund affects thousands of residents near the Anatolia area,
"What we found were about 3,800 parcels that lied outside the special fire assesment were incorrectly taxed," said Sac Metro Fire Deputy Chief Chris Holbrook said.
He continued to say that the affected residents have received letters informing them of the refund, they just need to respond.
"...of the 2,700 letters we sent out we've received about 1,100 back," Holbrook said.
Refunds range from $100 to $400 depending on how long you've owned the home.
If you have not responded to the letter and think your property might apply, you can contact the Sac Metro Fire department.
