Twenty-five years to life is the prison sentence given to a Sacramento woman for the murder of her newborn baby girl.
During setencing today in Sacramento County, Judge Sharon Lueras lashed out at Courtney Addington, calling her actions unconscionable and haunting.
The 25-year-old was convicted of puting her newborn into a plastic bag and hiding the child under a bed after giving birth in her Rosemont home.
According to tesimony at trial she kept the pregnancy secret from her friends and family, coming up with excuses as to why she was gaining weight in the months leading up to last January.
Authorities and prosecutors say she tried to cover up the birth of because her boyfriend said he wasn't quite ready to have children.
