REPORT: Yelling at Your Kids is Destructive

Yelling at your teen to behave is more likely to make them defiant and depressed according to a study out of the University of Pittsburgh. Teens whose parents yelled, cursed, and insulted them were more likely to exhibit depression, anger, and aggression, and to commit crimes like vandalism.

The study's researchers found extreme discipline was no better than giving children no limits at all. Instead, constructive consequences and taking away privileges to improve behavior proved much more effective.
