Olympic Torch Shot into Space

Russia on November 7 launched into space a trio of Russian, Japanese and US astronauts carrying an unlit Olympic torch that will for the first time be taken on a spacewalk to mark the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.The Olympic Torch has made it the International Space Station.

New crew members aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket docked this morning bringing the Olympic torch along. NASA Mission Control was monitoring.

The unlit torch for the 2014 Winter Olympics in the Russian city of Sochi is to be taken on a spacewalk Saturday, then return to Earth on Monday with three departing space station astronauts.
