Navy Ship Helps Search for Missing Malaysia Airlines Plane

A California-based Navy ship is rushing to help search for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane.

The Pinckney, a guided-missile destroyer from San Diego, had been conducting training and maritime security operations in international waters of the South China Sea, when it was diverted to aid in the search for the missing Boeing 777.

The airliner had been traveling from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing when it disappeared with 239 people on board, including three Americans.

The ship has two helicopters equipped for search and rescue missions.
