Multiple Deployments Increases Offspring Mental Health Problems

USC researchers say teenagers are more likely to commit suicide if their parents experience multiple military deployments overseas.

The "L.A. Times" reported the researchers looked at the case histories of more than 14-thousand secondary school students in California.

They said they found a link between a family member's deployment history and a number of mental health problems.

The study adds to a growing body of evidence that shows the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have taken a heavy toll on children in military families.
