First Google Glass Traffic Ticket Issued

First Google Glass Traffic Ticket Issued

A woman in California may be the first to get a traffic ticket for wearing Google Glass while driving.

Attorney Drew Findling says getting a ticket in this case was unfair, saying,

"The statute is clearly not keeping up, as many statutes are not keeping up with technology.  I think eventually you're going to see this ticket dismissed."

A San Diego police officer pulled Cecilia Abadie over for speeding earlier this week and gave her an additional citation for driving while wearing the device.

The traffic law cited is intended to prevent people from watching television or similar monitors while behind the wheel of a vehicle.  Abadie claims her Google Glass was not turned on at the time and that the officer said the screen was blocking her view.

Google does warn users to get to know state-by-state traffic laws.

Abadie can still take the case to court to get the Glass portion of the ticket dismissed.
