Another Cold Night Brings Warming Centers, More Danger for Citrus

Warming centers will be open again in Sacramento, Elk Grove and El Dorado Hills as we face another night of freezing and below freezing temperatures.

Last night we set a record of 29 degrees in Sacramento. The record was 32 degrees set in 1997.

Farmers in the San Joaquin Valley are checking for damage to their citrus crops after temperatures dropped below freezing overnight.

Citrus growers are running wind machines and employing other grove-warming techniques, as the industry braces for days of cold weather.

The California Farm Bureau Federation says it may be several weeks before they know the fate of the $2 billion crop.
