Alameda County Transit Workers Set 72 Hour Deadline

Alameda County Transit Workers Set 72 Hour Deadline

Just in time for a BART strike, workers at Alameda County Transit have filed a 72 hour notice saying they're walking off the job on Thursday.

As the potential region-wide shutdown of the Nations fifth largest transit system has played out in the headlines, AC Transit's unions and Alameda County have struggled to find an agreement.

Workers rejected a proposal hammered out by negotiators.  A shutdown of Alameda County's bus system would tie up traffic across the East Bay and push just as many cars on to area roads as a regionwide BART strike would do.

No contingency plans have been announced by AC Transit if the walk out takes place.
