"Trust Act" Passes Assembly


The state Assembly is sending the Senate a bill that would reduce the number of deportations and immigration holds. The "Trust Act" would prevent police from detaining people based on their immigration status when they're arrested, unless they have a criminal record for a serious or violent conviction. Assemblyman Tom Ammiano says the issue goes to the heart of immigration reform.
