A former assemblyman is denying any wrongdoing and says he has "no idea'' what FBI agents were searching for in a recent raid of his brother's legislative offices. Former Assemblyman Tom Calderon told the Sacramento Bee in an interview Wednesday that his work for a Southern California water agency was legitimate.
About two weeks ago, FBI agents searched the offices of his brother, Senator Ron Calderon, a Democrat from the Los Angeles County city of Montebello. The agents carted away boxes from during the search that lasted more than six hours. Ron and another brother, Charles Calderon, carried legislation that would have affected the water district.
